OH!!  While we were waiting in the airport lounge, I noted that a couple were surfing the internet for rental properties in Playa.  I said, “I see you are looking at rental properties, are you looking to buy a place or looking for a nice rental?”   Pam, “ Oh we will probably rent again, I have been coming here for about nine years, we (new man and Pam) are thinking about buying a condo, but … well, we are not sure.  I said,” I see.  Well WE just bought one and our real estate agent was excellent.  I just happen to have her card if you would like.”  Hahahahahah

So, Yet another Canadian couple on their way to Playa I am guessing. Hahahah

Well, Irene, I can’t wait to come again, and then we can have a proper visit over dinner and wine.

This is a great and true story from Jack who lives part time here in Playa:

Last Saturday I had gone to the money tree and gotten $500 US in cash to loan to a friend in Playa del Carmen, Mexico where I live now. I rode my bike to my friend´s house I lost my wallet from my pocket somewhere on the two kilometer journey. I had travelled through Playacar, our neighborhood, and then onto La Quinta, the main tourist drag in Playa, so the wallet had a lot of places it could visit. I sort of got real bummed about the money and especially all the id and credit cards that were lost, so I went home to sulk and have a beer. My wife, Maureen, bless her Irish heart decided to retrace my bike ride and ask every person, shopkeeper, and security guard she saw if they had seen a lost wallet.

Turns out a tourist found it on the street in busy Xaman Ha mall, gave it to the waiter at Johnny Rockets, who gave it to the manager, who gave it to security guard no. 1 who gave it to security guard number 2......who gave it to Maureen....who gave it to a very grateful me. This human chain did not have a single dishonest link. Every single peso, credit card, picture and dollar was in my wallet! Let´s hear it for honesty in Mexico and the world.

We sold houses in the States, and have dealt with many people in the real estate business, but Shawn and Jorge with their friendliness, straight forwardness , and no-nonsense attitude has rendered this whole process a real pleasure.
Shawn and Jorge patiently answered our many questions and eased all our concerns.

By the time you read this, I hope everything is starting to return to normal in Playa. Myra and I can't express your level of help and insight into the Mexico buying experience. But more importantly, your devotion as our broker, is rarely seen in the states.

Your quick response to our meeting regarding modifications seems to indicate David is a very reasonable and honorable man. Again not often seen in the states. Perhaps (David) as a parent of the project, will take that extra step for his first born (us) and do what is necessary to make us more welcome than he already has. Perhaps a poor metaphor, but whatever his motivations, we are pleased.

Buy the way, the tile store closed 5 minutes before we arrived. But so it seems we will have our late November visit to pick our tile. With regard to the tile, there is one important question. Will the new color tile we chose be the flooring tile for the second full bath and the powder room? We believe it will be in the master. If so, we would need a small piece of that tile to help us match-up our choice of bathroom wall tile. So, is there a way we can get a small discarded piece -- perhaps in your next showing -- and send it to us? We can start our search up here and ultimately find its equivalent in Cancun when we visit.

Thank you for spending time with us looking at condominiums. It was a pleasure working with you and we appreciate your efforts. Our offer was accepted on the property by 5th and 30th and we expect to close in February.

We closed on our new condominium in Playa Del Carmen this past week and are very happy with it. We ended up in the north part of town, at the corner of 5th Ave and Calle 30.

By the way, although we did not end up buying through Shawn at One Stop Real Estate, he is a great guy and was very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. I appreciate the referral and would gladly recommend him to others.
